One of the benefits of this new job of mine is the proximity to good shopping. I’ve got three bookshops, two wool shops and an assortment of good food stores all within walking distance. Add to that, I was even able to walk to Magnolia Square yesterday. I could end up with a nett loss from this new job.As always there was some beautiful stuff on offer at Magnolia Square. It was lovely to see Leisa from Mookah and I even caught up with Marg the Mookah Mum who was my boss some 18 or so years ago. Marg kindly reminded me of the short skirts I used to wear and my fondness for table tennis at lunchtime. Not a good combination.

For quite a while now I’ve been casting admiring glances towards Suse’s French cardigans. Having promised myself a few months ago that I would give myself a month or two between finishing off the last of the wholesale orders for this year and before starting on samples for next year to knit for myself, I knew just what I would knit. After a false start due failing to check my tension (I was rewarded for my knitting hubris with the beginnings of a John Candy sized cardigan. To think I will be teaching others to knit later Read the rest of this entry »
With the Royal Show about six weeks away, I’ve been working hard to perfect my scone and Anzac making. Those in the know would probably judge this batch to be too brown. I figured that if I covered them in jam and cream, the unofficial judges at at home would never know they’d spent a few minutes too long in the oven. It worked a treat. I think I was on Twitter whilst they were in the oven, hence the overcooking. Never bake and Tweet, people. A recipe for disaster. The Anzac testing is making lunch box packing a Read the rest of this entry »
The Craft Room has swung open its Melbourne doors. The first Learn to Knit class was held last week and although somewhat boutique in size, a good time was had by all.To take a break from the concentration involved in learning to cast on, knit, purl, etc. we had a short break at the mid point to have a wander around Amitie Fabrics. Perhaps in retrospect this was not such a good idea as I managed to spend most of my teaching fee in 10 minutes flat. Of course, money spent on fabric and wool is not real money, is Read the rest of this entry »
